Global payment technology giant Visa and Africa’s leading digital payment and e commerce provider Interswitch have come together to announce a partnership that sees visa cardholders being able to perform business transactions through Interswitch’s multichannel payment platform; Quickteller.
Speaking at the media briefing session which held at the prestigious Lily gate hotel Lekki on Thursday 22nd of October 2015, Ade Asahaye the Country Director for Visa in West Africa; explained that that this new business relationship came as a result of aiding the government’s agenda of a cashless economy and also the need to afford its customers the benefits of electronic payments through a number of different platforms.
Mitchell Elegbe, The Chief Executive Officer of Interswitch, who also spoke at the event which was tagged ‘’Visa and Interswitch: Better Together’’ said this was a remarkable feat for the company especially for the Quickteller platform as it expands its over 3 million active customer base.
Visa cardholders will now be able to use their cards to buy airtime, pay bills and transfer funds across all Quickteller channels. Also merchants on Quickteller have been given the opportunity to increase their customer base by accepting Visa Card payments.
