Confused about what “peng” even means? We here to update your OS to Woke 7.0.

Peng
Often used to describe a person. Means ‘fit’ or ‘hot’ or ‘good-looking’.
Can also be used to describe something you like, like food.
Now that you understand what it means, here are some tips to getting the fashion wardrobe you want while staying on your budget;
1. First of all – Ignore trends
Trends are beautiful when they are blazing hot, and we all want to be seen wearing those latest sunglasses or Nike shoes. Now the thing about trends is that they are fleeting and change almost by the hour so it will be quite expensive to keep up with every dope fashion trend.
Instead, you should try focusing on identifying your individual style, what you actually love and want your fashion to be. Being unique is way hotter than being a carbon copy of a fashion magazine.Think about it for a minute and decide if all was a perfect world, how would I dress?

2. Buy the basics: Stick to some basic items like t-shirts, skinny jeans, and things that can be paired with other accessories and clothes that make them seem fresh and different every time you wear them. Do NOT buy a shirt if it only goes with one outfit. For example, for a woman, a classic might be a beautiful black dress, and the trend would be an infinity scarf and statement earrings.

For a guy, a great fitting pair of pants and a no-wrinkle shirt, or that amazing pair of jeans and sneakers.

The classic look depends on your style. I mostly prefer to think of the classics as items that you wear all the time. Items that last and don’t fade despite how many times you wash them. Items that really pull a lot of your wardrobe together.

3.  It has got to FIT

Whether you dress simply and chic all day but your clothes don’t fit, you are definitely not looking like a million bucks. This also applies to everything we wear from our simple casuals to work clothes and of course our native attires. If it doesn’t fit, it looks cheap and tacky. Do not mistake “fit” here to mean tight or hugging the body, the guy in a baggy suit Vs a guy in a well- tailored suit — the difference is always clear as day. Same rules apply for women. Spend a few extra bucks to get your inexpensive clothing tailored well, and they suddenly look expensive. Spend some time with your tailor, change old buttons, change those weak zippers for something more updated,  adjust if you’ve lost some weight and stop buying baggy clothes to hide your body structure.

4. Stick to the basics for makeup

This is for the ladies. Please do not feel like you need to have multiple layers of everything to look amazing, The makeup basics are really all you need, your mascara, lip gloss/color, blush, concealer, and (maybe some liner and shadow). All that highlight, bronzing & contour craze is unnecessary tbh. A good-quality foundation and concealer in your color for long wear is a good spend and really contributes to a polished look. Bad foundation can make the prettiest woman look trashy and horrible, but good foundation lifts your whole look.

6. Invest in Good Shoes
Yes, your budget may be limited, but nothing elevates your outfit quite like a killer pair of shoes be it heels, flats. sandals or sneakers. A pair of classic shoes with an inexpensive outfit instantly elevates you and this applies to both ladies and guys. I know the first thing I see when I meet a guy is his shoes,  I’m not telling you to miss rent to buy a pair of Louboutins because even the local shoemakers we have now are doing amazing things with leather for men.

More importantly, wearing good shoes really does gives you some added confidence.

5. Take a friend and your cash

This is for those shopping days, be it Lagos Island or hitting a couple of high-end boutiques, if you are the kind of person who is tempted to overspend or go off your list, take a shopping buddy with you to hold you accountable,  not the one who will do the opposite. Take your cash with you and leave your ATM Cards at home.
