We want to give you an airplane, MTN insists

by Stanley Azuakola

Give it to MTN though, the telecommunication giant is working hard to convince its subscribers and, indeed all Nigerians, on their willingness to give away an airplane in their ongoing promotion. The company says that the four-seater airplane is no farce, but a reality which subscribers can enjoy by being a part of its network and recharging with as low as N200.

Okay. We hear.

The general manager, Consumer Marketing, Mr. Kola Oyeyemi disclosed this at a media briefing during the weekend.

Here’s what he said:

“For many people, it’s so hard to believe that we are giving out an aeroplane which for me is understandable because no other brand has done that in our history. It must be stated that there is nothing that we have promised that we have not delivered. We do not intend to make this an exception.

“Moreso, in trying to give reassurance, we have promised to give cash reward equivalent especially for those who may desire to have it in cash. For us at MTN, we believe we have got the capacity to do the impossible, which is what we have been known for. That is why we made the promise and we are poised to fulfil it”, he added. This no doubt is great news for MTN subscribers. Details on what it takes to win the aeroplane is on the MTN website.

But, does this come as a total “aeroplane owing” package? Who’s going to pay for aviation fuel, a pilot, parking space, and maintenance costs? Just wondering.
