We will go on with the re-screening of 2,000 dismissed recruits – Immigration Service

Unperturbed by their continued protests, the Nigeria Immigration Service on Tuesday said it would still go ahead with the re-screening of 2,000 dismissed officers in 2015.

The Service spokesperson, Ekpedeme King, said the re-screening would take place as scheduled at the NIS Headquarters, Abuja, from August 29 to September 4.

He said, “The background checks are a normal practice globally when recruiting personnel into military and paramilitary agencies.

“Let me say that failure to submit oneself for screening would be regarded as withdrawal of interest in the recruitment exercise.”

He urged members of the public not to send applications, stating that it was not a fresh job screening.

The recruits had been protesting in Abuja since last week and had camped in front of the Aso Villa through the night last week Friday.

The recruits are protesting that the NIS referred to them as applicants after they had already been given service numbers and trained for months.
