YNaija & Chocolate City present #Hashtag – Pause. Tweet. Play.

by Sola Fasasi

On Saturday, 23th July, 2011, the new high priest of Nigerian youth culture will unleash its latest brainwave: #Hashtag, the first ever YNaija party. It’s clear that no social networking site has rocked our world quite like Twitter. Beyond the relentless exchange of information and web links, the interesting 140-character messages – the witty tweets and retweets we indulge in – have made Twitter such a hit within a short time.

YNaija has constantly stayed ahead of its contemporaries, creating trends and concepts built around Twitter. We pioneered the Twitter Roundup that’s now a firm favourite, and we held an online version of our Twitter Awards last year, with plans for a bigger event this year. We also created the Twitter Personality series, and between April and June we’ve profiled more than 25 top Twitter personalities. These include real life celebrities and those who have made their name on the social network, and they all let us into their individual experiences on Twitter.

#Hashtag by YNaija is aptly tagged ‘Pause. Tweet. Play.’ “The event will be a night of fun and celebration at the exclusive Swe Bar, Lagos. There we will recognize the overall winner of the Twitter Personality Series for the first quarter,” said Ifreke Inyang, Assistant Editor of YNaija.

At #Hashtag, hosted by YNaija and Chocolate City, Twitter is guaranteed to come to life in an evening of fine entertainment and great company. “We expect it to be a splendid night of world class performances, stellar red carpet choreography, and an inspiring cast of our Twitter Personalities,” said ‘Damilola Oyedele, Editor of YNaija.

We’re so looking forward to the #Hashtag party! Pause. Tweet. Play.
