Knit Technologies introduces a ticketing and event-listing app 

Knit Technologies Ltd., a Nigerian startup company, recently launched its ticketing and event-listing app called ‘Knit.’

The application was launched on November 4 and was built to help people discover more straightforward methods of acquiring tickets for events, create tickets for events, and connect with others.

“With Knit, we have an app that allows individuals to efficiently create or discover events, secure tickets to their favourite shows and establish meaningful connections,” Fela Bank-Olemoh, the co-founder of Knit, said.

OPay, one of the leading Nigerian fintech companies, has emerged as the Fintech Award winner of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) at the Digital Nigeria 2023 Awards Dinner.

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is a government agency with the mandate to create a framework for the planning, research, development, standardisation, application, coordination, monitoring, evaluation, and regulation of Information Technology practices in Nigeria.

The awards gala recognises the contribution and effect of the fintech space in Nigeria; with OPay’s consistent commitment to its customers, it is no surprise that the firm came out on top with the Fintech Award.

Bolt Nigeria launches training hub, trains 100 drivers for 3 months

Bolt Nigeria announced its training program, which aims to train 100 Nigerian drivers and equip them with entrepreneurial skills comprising Time Management, Productivity, Communication, Customer Service and more.

One of the leading e-mailing rides in Nigeria, Bolt, has begun the second phase of its Accelerator Program, which was initiated in September 2023.

The company claimed that the three-month training would be taken on learning app Coursera along with a physical implementation partner, PM4Success.

“Bolt Academy is a remarkable stride towards fostering entrepreneurial excellence among Bolt drivers. The program will see 100 drivers engage in weekly courses to further build on their entrepreneurial skills,” the company’s statement reads.

Showmax announces plan to halt streaming its services beyond Africa

Showmax, a subsidiary streaming platform of Multichoice, has announced that it would stop its streaming services offered to countries outside Africa.

The company said starting December 1, it would no longer provide services to countries beyond the African continent because it aims to make its services Afro-centric.

“From 1 December, we will be available only in African markets,” it said.

Presently, the platform is available to continents like Australia, Europe, North America, and New Zealand.

Zambian startup wins pitch competition at Africa Fintech Summit

Zambian startup firm Save&Remit emerged as the winner of the Alpha Expo pitch competition at the Africa Fintech Summit.

The company was awarded $2,500 in Lusaka, Zambia, ahead of 14 other competitors.

Launched in 2020, Save&Remit is a digital saving platform that enables industries and Small and Medium-sized firms to save on their mobile devices.

Nigeria’s startup firm, Trade Lenda, came up second, and aXiom Zorn from Uganda ranked third in the competition.
