APC Governors allegedly compiled list of NASS principal officers

It is believed that the list of Principal Officers of the National Assembly was put together by some governors of the All Progressives Congress, Vanguard reports.

The National Working Committee of the APC, was thought to have compiled the list of the party’s preferred candidate, however a source close to the National Chairman of the party, revealed that it was orchestrated by the 8 governors who visited John Oyegun a few days before the House of Representatives’ show of shame.

The objective of the governors was reportedly to submit the list to the Chairman and make sure it was included in the letters to the Senate President and Speaker.

The governors, who were led by Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, had assured the Chairman that the list of the principal officers was a reflection of the general choice of the party.

Oyegun who was against the idea, reportedly advised that it would have been better to leave out the names of the officers to allow the caucuses from each zone to nominate those that would fill the offices.

The report further stated that the governors believed that the Chief Whip of the Senate should be ceded to the North-West going against Oyegun’s position that it should go to the South-South, in order to canvass more support for the party in subsequent elections.
