Budget-Padding Tracker: APC stops Jibrin from speaking against Dogara, others in public

The ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), on Thursday, cautioned the former Chairman of the House of Representative Committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin, against speaking out about the House leadership in public.

This was revealed this in a letter sent to Jibrin through the APC’s Deputy National Chairman (North), Lawal Shuaibu.

Jibrin have in the past weeks accused the Speaker of the House, Yakubu Dogara, and other presiding officers of the House, of padding the 2016 budget, amongst several other accusations of corruption.

The party leadership, in its letter, warned Jibrin against issuing any public statement in relation to the problems within the House of Representatives.

The letter reads in part, “As you are aware, the party, and indeed the government, has not been happy over the recent development in the house of representatives over the issue of the 2016 budget. We found it embarrassing to have to deal with another new phenomenon you tagged ‘budget padding.

“Arising from the series of meetings we held with you over the subject matter, the national working committee had decided to request you to henceforth avoid issuing any public statement on this matter. This includes statements through social media or other means of transmitting an opinion on the matter to the public, as the party is now looking into it towards finding possible solution.”
