Jay Z, Rihanna sued by owner of Beat FM, Chris Ubosi

Chris Ubosi, owner of popular radio station, Beat FM has sued Jay Z and his management company, Roc Nation for allegedly canceling a Rihanna concert in 2013.

The Nigerian concert promoter also claims that Roc Nation has refused to repay a $160,000 deposit.

Ubosi, CEO of Megalextrics, owners of Beat FM and Classic FM, says he struck a deal with two people who claimed to be Rihanna’s representatives.

Based on the deal, TMZ reports that Rihanna was meant to get $425,000 to perform for 65 minutes in Nigeria.

The show was supposed to hold in May 2013 but after paying $160k, Rihanna’s camp supposedly asked for a postponement.

Ubosi agreed to the postponement on the condition that Rihanna would post the new date on social media.

But that never happened, hence Megalectrics cancelled the show and demanded its money back.

TMZ further reports that sources close to Rihanna claim that her management knew nothing about the show and that the singer never received the money.

“Rihanna, Roc Nation nor anyone. associated personally or professionally with either party was in contact with this person. Unfortunately this person was scammed. Rihanna nor. Roc Nation collected no money for this event”, a rep for Roc Nation was quoted to have said.

Ubosi has filed a civil suit regarding the case at a Manhattan court.
