Three arraigned for killing 9 policemen, others in Rivers

Three suspects- Godgift Gwenbe, Odum Atokaritou and Napughi Duba – were on Thursday arraigned before a Magistrate Court siting in Port Harcourt for the alleged killing of 10 persons, including 9 police officers.

The suspects were arraigned on 18 counts charges of conspiracy, armed robbery, kidnapping and murder.

 Their victims were said to have been killed during various bank robberies orchestrated by the 3 suspects.

Some of their alleged victims include Spy ASP Bamidele Mohammed, attached to Sterling Bank, Port Harcourt; Inspector Austine Moore, attached to Elekahia Police Station in Port Harcourt; Corporal Prince Tigbara (Elekahia Police Station) and Inspector Jonah Oletu.

Others alleged to have been killed by the suspects are Inspector Peter Olavoghokere, Corporal Paul Nnaa, Inspector Dennis Akpan, attached to Olu-Obasanjo Police Station, Port Harcourt, Sergeant Ekwere Epoulo, Corporal Okougor Nyambi all attached to Olu-Obasanjo Police Station and Femi Oloukun, Regional Manager of Sterling Bank.

The suspects alongside others also attacked and robbed a bullion van conveying the sum of $400,000, property of Sterling Bank, Port Harcourt.

The case was adjourned till November 28, 2016 and the accused were ordered to be remanded in prison.
