The Bauchi Police Command has arrested two teachers of a primary school in the Dutsen Tanshi area of Bauchi, the state capital, for allegedly defiling a six-year-old pupil.
The Commissioner of Police, Garba Umar, made the disclosure on Thursday while giving a report of the command’s efforts at reducing crime in the state.
According to Umar, the suspects, Sani Abubakar, 39; and Usman Hassan, 33, were arrested on March 8, 2017, at about 9am for the alleged crime.
Umar said, “The suspects lured the six-year-old girl and defiled her at a primary school in Dutsen Tanshi. Unfortunately, the two suspects are the victim’s teachers in the same school.”
In a related development, Umar said detectives attached to the Burra division, on March 12, 2017, arrested a 20-year-old man in Burra town, in the Ningi Local Government Area of the state, for allegedly raping his four-year-old relative.
The commissioner said the victim had been admitted at the Burra General Hospital.
