Since the country won’t stop murmuring about Ibrahim Magu’s rejection by the Senate as the Chairman of the Economic and Finacial Crimes Commission on Wednesday and to be fair, it’s hard to get over considering the effect that that rejection has on the President and his presidency, Senators under corruption trial, the Department of State Services, Senator Dino Melaye that led us to believe there were two reports indicting Magu when we still cannot find them and the EFCC itself. It was a big blow.
It has turned out to be one of those deeply divisive national issues where almost everyone has an opinion about what just happened and how to move on. We have been so busy analysing the ay forward that we did not bother to check on the commission itself to see how they took the news.
Who else to go to for answers than the anonymous and ever hilarious handler of the @officialefcc Twitter account.
Here goes:
1. Right after the hearing, it was obvious there’d be some chaos at the EFCC HQ. So when Esther asked:
Hey @officialEFCC, do you like taking Coffee?

Sure Esther. Double latte, decaf. May need something a little stronger tonight though. https://t.co/yB2gDk1uKi

2. Musa tried to rile up handler but he failed:

3. But since Musa won’t let up,
Go to bed Musa. A handler cannot be baited. https://t.co/lbDpO8Hh6N

It was very hard not to notice some truth behind the light-hearted but tired responses. It had been a long day after all. The anti-graft agency seemed to have been very flustered by the rejection and the fact that there have only been 10 other tweets from the handler since Wednesday does not help.
