Chocolates cause cavities, chocolates are poison for your teeth and what not. Right? Wrong! The darker variety actually has an array of good things that it can do to your teeth

1. Tea

You might think we are kidding, but the truth is, we are not. Tea and coffee have been considered the main culprits in staining our teeth from time immemorial. Here’s the news: Tea contains high levels of polyphenols and it battles bacteria. Moreover, tea also absorbs fluoride-an acid-fighting mineral that protects against tooth erosion. Another reason to go back to the good ol’ chai!

2. Cheese

Other than providing a healthy dose of calcium, cheese can also help your teeth to gain their shine back. Snacking on cheese can raise the pH level of your mouth to perfectly fresh levels. Lower pH levels can erode and discolour your teeth, causing cavities too. Go for Cheddar for best results.

3. Dark Chocolate

Chocolates cause cavities, chocolates are poison for your teeth and what not. Right? Wrong! The darker variety actually has an array of good things that it can do to your teeth: dark chocolate contains tannins (antioxidants found in cacao) that prevent bacteria from sticking to your teeth and also neutralise the microorganisms that cause bad breath. Plus, it also contains theobromine, which can harden tooth enamel. Higher the cacao, brighter will be your smile.

4. Steak

Medium or well done, go ahead and order one! Studies have proven that the phosphorus in steak protects tooth enamel and bone. Also, since red meat is chewy, the constant chewing exercises the teeth and gums and keeps them strong.
