40 killed, dozens reported missing in Bangladesh landslide

Heavy monsoon rains have triggered landslides in southeast Bangladesh, killing at least forty people, including three army soldiers.

Officials added that dozens more have been reported missing in the Chittagong Hills, following some of the heaviest rains in recent years.

Rescue operations are being hampered by bad weather and officials fear the death toll would rise, BBC reports.

Traffic in the capital Dhaka and Chittagong, Bangladesh’s major port city, has been disturbed by the torrential rains.
