5 totally dramatic moments to expect during Donald Trump’s second trip overseas #G20Summit

The first time Donald Trump travelled overseas in his capacity as America’s leader, we had ourselves a jolly good time. The 45th POTUS shoved another world leader, looked dumb as they come dancing to Arabian tunes, got swatted on the hand by his own wife and failed at his infamous handshake game by the 39-year-old Emmanuel Macron.

There’s no reason why this second trip should be any less interesting. Principally because nothing should be expected to be less interesting when Donald Trump is involved. Add the fact that on his first trip, Trump deepened the divide between America and its “frenemies”, created a friction with allies like Germany and he has since then pulled out of the Paris Accord thereby pissing off a lot more countries than America’s world’s-best-country ego can bear, then what you have is a trip to Hamburg for the 12th G-20 Summit that should pass the test for a Hollywood feature.

Specifically, these are some of the moments you should look out for:

Trump’s first meeting with Vladimir Putin

It’s like the next best thing that July will cough up after season 7 of Game of Thrones and like the epically ruthless TV series, no one seems to know what to expect except that this is not the season/meeting we find out who gets the Iron Throne.

Also like Game of Thrones, we have had enough teasers for the show about to happen to keep our appetites wet. The Donald and Putin either have a history or not but neither has been open. While Putin has only said one memorable thing about Trump, calling him “colourful”, Donald Trump has at various times, gone from saying he “gets along great” with Putin to claiming they have/have never met.

What to expect: we will have memorable tales from this meeting – even if they decide to snob each other and they won’t.

Trump may get heckled by Emmanuel Macron

If you thought Macron‘s epic handshake show down with Trump in Berlin was the height of the French leader’s pettiness, then you may not havenoticed how much Macron wants to ridicule Trump over climate change differences.

Macron has a large youth following. Youth and many Westerners, as you know actually care for the planet and want to commit to making the world greener and cleaner but Trump is hell-bent on maintaining that climate change is a hoax created (by Ghina) to rip off America economically. This was the reason he gave when he famously withdrew America from the Paris Climate Change Accord in the Rose Garden last month.

Macron wasn’t having none of that. He immediately went on Twitter, where Donald Trump, the real-estate mogul that he is, keeps a 33 million-bedroom mansion, and posted an edited version of Trump’s White House video that claimed his decision was to “Make America Great Again”. Macron‘s version cancelled America and replaced it with “the planet”.

The ambitious and calculating young leader is not here to play with Trump and our best guess is that he’ll choose his moment to show Trump.

What to expect: Macron shouting down Trump with a “Make the Planet Great Again” chant.

The Iron Chancellor, Merkel and Donald

From trade to NATO and the Climate, Angela Merkel is probably the leader that Donald Trump has the most unfriendly relations with. The German Chancellor has been quoted more than once throwing shades at Donald Trump.

She’s extended the “beef” to the G-20 Summit where she has home advantage. CNN reports that “Hamburg is expected to play host to confrontations over a broad slate of issues where Trump and his European allies have disagreed, mainly because Merkel has ensured those sticking points — including trade, climate, and migration — feature prominently on the G20 agenda.”

What to expect: Merkel sending a Vice Chancellor to receive Trump while she has brunch with Trudeau and Obama.

The Great Wall between him and Enrique Pena Nieto

The only thing Trump and his Mexican counterpart have in common is the prevalent dislike that each leader suffers at home and sadly, this is not a unifying factor.

Donald Trump is known to have campaigned on the promise to build a “yuuugee” wall along the Mexican border to keep the “bad hombres” out.  While the Trump Administration immigration craziness has enjoyed  some iota of success in terms of the Travel Ban, Enrique has given him the worst time with his “yuuugee” wall.

Trump promised to build a wall that will be paid for by Mexico but he received the worst shocker of his Presidential life when Enrique told him point blank in January that he was snoozing.

Nieto even cancelled on Trump in January on the day the were supposed to meet for the first time and has not rescheduled since then so Friday should by all means be a show down.

Except that the Mexicans are still unimpressed by Donald. The Mexican foreign minister reportedly warned in a TV broadcast that not much should be expected and any meetings between them will last 30 minutes or less.

Let’s hope for a cold stone-walling of Trump by Nieto.

The way Trump will treat African leaders

Maybe, he’ll shove Jacob Zuma out of the way this time around or maybe he’ll call the President of Guinea by the wrong name, who knows?

Although in fairness to POTUS, the last time Trump was seen with African leaders (Kenyatta, Conde, Osinbajo and Desalegn), it was in Taormina, Italy and he was seen smiling while doing his famous “thumb-up” pose beside an almost-unimpressed Acting President Osinbajo.

But Nigeria, the African country surveyed to have the highest number of Trump-lovers at 58% by Pew Research Centre survey was not invited to the G-20. This leaves us unsure of how the American leader will treat the two African leaders who’ll be attending in their capacities as leaders of two African blocs (Jacob Zuma of South Africa and Guinea’s Alpha Conde).

What to expect: that Donald Trump will have to chill at the third-world table with these African leaders all through the trip because the big boys and Putin have more serious things/people to deal with.
