On the night of Saturday, 20 September, a 51-year-old man, Ismaila Atupa, was beheaded by unidentified persons in Doma, Nasarawa State.
The man’s head was chopped-off and the remaining body dumped at the refuse dump site beside the Doma local government secretariat.
Following the outcry of residents over the appearance of the headless body in the dumpster, the police has reportedly evacuated the corpse.
Meanwhile, while speaking in Lafia on Sunday, 21 September, the state Police spokesperson (PPRO), Ismaila Numan, confirmed the incident, saying the victim was a mad man. He stated that the police had evacuated the corpse and autopsy was carried on him, before handing his remains over to the family.
He also stated that the remains of late Atupa has been buried according to Islamic rite, and investigation has also began to determine the circumstances which led to his beheading.
