Fashola’s first mission appears to be Lagos-Ibadan expressway

The suspended re-construction of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway has been resumed by Julius Berger Plc and Raynolds Construction Company (Nigeria).

Both contractors, who had downed their tools, are reportedly back on site in continuation of the construction.

Construction workers of Julius Berger were over the weekend, seen working at the Redemption Camp and Arepo areas at the Lagos end of the road.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, palliative work was being carried out on the failed sections of the Redemption Camp area while major construction work was being done at the Arepo area.

Julius Berger is said to be handling Section One of the project, which stretches from the Sagamu Inter-Change to Lagos, while RCC is in charge of Section Two, which is from the Sagamu Inter-Change to Ojoo, Ibadan.

As expected, the resumption of work on the major expressway, which is one of the busiest in the country, has resulted in a traffic nightmare for the road users.

The completion date of the re-construction project of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway is slated as July 3, 2017.
