The People Democratic Party, on Friday night, alleged that the federal government had brought into Rivers state, N5 billion for the All Progressives Congress, to rig the rerun elections in the state, on Saturday.
The opposition party claimed that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachi Lawal, Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi and a Resident Electoral Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission, were all present at the Port Harcourt airport, to receive the funds.
While making the allegations on its Twitter page, the PDP also shared photos of what appeared to be vans at the tarmac of the airport, but there was no proof that either the SGF nor the Transport Minister were at the Port Harcourt airport.
Despite not being able to share pictures to back its claim, the PDP maintained that ‘soldiers and police were around the airport’ as the N5 billion was being offloaded into what it alleged to be ‘bullion vans’.
