America braces up as Hurricane Trump approaches…

Hurricanes are huge tropical storms that begin to appear as summer turns to fall. Storms cause damage and flooding but once the wind speed of a storm reaches or exceeds 75 miles per hour, then it becomes a hurricane. According to experts, there is no way to stop a hurricane.

The second presidential debate in the approaching United States presidential election holds tonight, but there is trouble in the camp of one of the candidates who will be going head to head. Republican, Donald Trump’s campaign has been full of storms, but none of them can ‘trump’ the damage that has been done since the #TrumpTape was released yesterday, just 48 hours before the debate.

Donald Trump is a misogynist and he’s racist! We know this from comments he’s made in public speeches before and during his campaign, but a video leak of a private conversation he had in 2005 has confirmed all that there is to the man, Donald Trump. Since the 3-minute video surfaced on the internet, a lot has gone wrong for Mr. Trump; despite the unemotional apology he made in response to the video.

Trump is the Republican Party candidate but majority of Republicans have withdrawn their support for Trump since this new video went viral and it’s just the commonsense thing to do. Some have even gone further by asking Trump to quit the race so the vice-presidential nominee, Mike Pence can contest in his stead. Trump has responded to these calls so fiercely by saying that there is “zero chance” he’ll quit. Typical of him.

In his apology, Donald Trump conveys the simple message that though he has said “some boorish things”, they cannot be compared to the actions of former president, Bill Clinton who he claims has “actually abused women” and whose wife (and Trump’s opponent), Hillary Clinton has “bullied, attacked, shamed and intimidated his victims.” It’s interesting to see how Donald Trump always ends up placing his incompetency and flimsiness next to former president Bill Clinton’s mistakes, forgetting that he’s running against Hillary Clinton and not Bill (two independent entities). It’s a situation of “Hey, I’m bad but Bill was worse”. Bill Clinton was America’s past and this election is mostly about shaping her very uncertain future.

Few days before this much talked about video of his lascivious comments became public, Trump had said in various interviews that he would not bother himself with revealing details of Bill Clinton’s dirty past – the “far worse things Clinton has said to me on the golf course”. He even almost made references to these details at the first presidential debate in September but stopped himself because of his “respect for Chelsea Clinton”. This new string of events has obviously changed Trump’s resolve and his respect for Chelsea Clinton will not stop Trump from doing the Clintons dirty at tonight’s debate. He set the precedent for what is to come when he retweeted these tweets last night:

don-tw

With just 30 days to the election and few hours to the second presidential debate, the storm that has brewed in the past months has finally graduated into a full blown hurricane, but the truth is, Trump will not be the only victim. Tonight is bound to be a showdown as Trump will be on the defensive regarding the leaked tape, and will, as is typical of him, launch attacks on Clinton. Sure enough. This may be the beginning of the end of the road for Trump’s race, but he will not go down without a rough fight that will leave Americans in doubt of their only remaining option: Hillary Clinton.
