5 things to know about Nigerian fugitive, Wale Kekere-Ekun, who’s jailed for life in the UK

Nigerian fugitive, Adewale Kekere-Ekun, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Marcus Hall, in the United Kingdom.

Here are 5 things you should know about him:

1. 39-year-old Abdul Adewale Kekere-Ekun, was arrested on February 12, 2015 by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFFC) for identity theft-related offences.

 

2. In 2001, he was sentenced for the murder of 18-year-old Marcus Hall, following a brawl outside Luton’s Atmosphere Nightclub, where the popular music group, So Solid Crew, had just finished performing.

 

3. Kekere-Ekun, who is on the wanted list of the United Kingdom Police, goes by several aliases like Adebayo Dalvin James Ekun, Adeba Yo Kekere-Ekun, Adeba Yo Muta Lito Kekere-Ekun, James Dalvin, James Adebayo.

 

4. After pleading guilty to the murder charge before the Luton Crown Court, he later fled to Nigeria, but was subsequently arrested in Nigeria in February by EFCC.

 

5. After his sentencing, the mother of his victim, Icelyn Wilson, said : “My son’s death still hurts as if it had happened yesterday and I will never get over it. You did not just ruin one life, you left a ‘ripple effect’ which has impacted on everyone involved in my son, Marcus’ life.”
