[The Activism Blog] You need to listen to Osasu Igbinedion

Osasu Igbinedion

TV host, Osasu Igbinedion has joined the list of numerous Nigerians playing a positive role in the lives of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the country. She recently hosted about 1000 IDPs to a Christmas party in Abuja as a way of giving back to the society through her Foundation, The Osasu Show Foundation.

The number of beneficiaries might represent a few percentage out of the myriads of displaced persons existing in various camps across the country but its important to note that lives are being touched through her benevolence.

The quality of life of IDPs in the country has been on a downward slope. The United Nations recently stated that Nigeria needs about one billion dollars to address the mounting humanitarian crisis in the North-eastern part of the country.

Unavailability and inadequacy of feeding and clothing material has been the order of the day at the camps, some of which lack educational facilities to train these individuals that have become refugees in their own land. The activity of The Osasu Show Foundation among other initiatives will further help in repositioning these IDPs for a productive and quality life outside the camp.

Other individuals in the private sector are advised to toe part Osasu Igbinedion has chosen, as this will help in no small measure in filling the wide gap left by the government.

The Boko Haram war won’t be considered a won until IDPs camps are closed permanently and the victims return to their original community. Till then we will continuously rely on many Osasu Igbinedions among us to salvage the situation.
