Lekan Shonde, accused of killing his wife, was today arraigned on a one-count charge of murder.

The prosecutor, Chinalu Uwadione told the court that the offence was committed around 2:30pm at Shonde’s residence in 3, Tiemo Street, Egbeda, on May 5.

He accused him of beating his wife to death and then running away, before being arrested by the police, contravening sections 221 of the criminal law of Lagos state, 2011, which attracts life imprisonment.

His plea was not taken, and the case has been adjourned to June 24.

Meanwhile his wife and mother of two, Ronke was today laid to rest at the Atan cemetery in Lagos.
