Ukraine’s former striker Andriy Shevchenko was on Friday appointed national team head coach.
Shevchenko will replace the departing Mykhailo Fomenko, the country’s soccer federation has said.
The 39-year-old, who is Ukraine’s all time record goalscorer, played for Dynamo Kiev, AC Milan and Chelsea.
He was officially presented by federation president Andriy Pavelko at a news conference.
