APC youths are migrating to PDP…this is why

by Emma Chidiogo

Recently, young people within the APC have been said to be decamping to the Peoples Democratic party (PDP).

YNaija got top tweets from some of the affected members of the All Progressive Youth Forum (APYF).

“Obviously the lack of recognition of the hard work from most APC youths by d leaders. wen u call PAs endlessly & submit series of letters just 2book appointments with them! How won’t YOUTHS be frustrated!” – Mohammed Brimah (@mobrimah)

“It gets so annoying that you have to lobby to even see this our leaders.” – Osindero Sola (@ooshye)

“The hardwork of most APC youths is largely unrecognised and unnoticed by our LEADERS. APC is guilty of not doing enough to build and empower a vibrant resource – YOUTHS that can lead d movement.” – Segun Tomori (@seguntomori)

“The leaders are demigods and that’s why some youths lobby to see them.” – Bisi Ogungbemi (@bisi_ola)

When the National Coordinator of the APYF, Ismail Ahmed, was contacted on the issue via Twitter by a Mushin Local Government account, @mushinspeaks, he was of the opinion that the youths were not being neglected but had to work harder in order to gain relevance.

“The youths have not been neglected per say. But they are not where we want to be.” They should be “in full control of the necessary structures of the party and the country as we go along”.

He added that being frustrated and decamping wasn’t the solution but tenacity.

“I don’t think they are fed up. I think theey are agitated and angry and rightly so. But tenacity and resolve is the ingredient here”.

Are you an APC Youth member? What are your thoughts on the forum’s policies towards youth? Do you agree with Ahmed?

  1. The real APC youth are not those who carry APC membership card the real one is we that we watch from the side line and ready anytime to cast our vote for change which APC represent….I I plore those trying to book appointment with the APC leader to stop being sacarstic and let us all work for change come 2015.
But the leaders also should make theirself accessible by the youth by this we shall all be victorious
