How Buhari, APC will compensate South-East over appointments snub

It is believed that President Muhammadu Buhari and his party, the All Progressives Congress, are taking steps to compensate the South East region, for being left out in the appointments made so far by the Presidency.

Out of 31 appointments made so far, 24 are from the North, 7 are from the South, while the South-East has none whatsoever.

Punch Newspapers reports that in an attempt to balance the appointments, some states in the South East geopolitical zone might get more than one ministerial slot.

The report stated that sources from the Presidency and the APC, revealed that President Buhari was aware of the criticisms of his recent appointments, and has therefore decided to make things right.

A top member of the party was quoted to have said:

He said, “The President has assured us that all zones that have not been represented in the appointments he has made so far will be compensated.

“For example, some states in the South-East may get more than one ministerial slots. The President is going to make board and ambassadorial appointments. All zones, including the South-East, will be represented in this government.”
