‘Arrest and prosecute our Vice Chancellor’ – OAU students cry out

Nigerian students, under the name Alliance of Nigerian Students Against Neo-Liberal Attacks (ANSA), on Thursday, called on the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) and other anti-graft agencies to investigate and prosecute the Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Prof. Bamitale Omole, for misappropriation of the university’s resources

The students stated this during a peaceful protest in Osogbo, Osun state. According to the group coordinator, Wole Olubanji, said that several petitions have written against Prof. Omole and that there was enough evidence to back up thier allegations.

They also asked the school authorities to immediately reinstate the student Union officials who were suspended from the school for trying to protect the interest of the students.

The coordinator said that: “We are calling on President Muhammadu Buhari, the National Assembly, EFCC, ICPC and the Code of Conduct Bureau to probe Prof. Bamitale Omole’s administration.

“Prof. Omole administration has earned over N30bn from subventions, more than N1.5bn from school fees, billions of naira from ore-degree program besides funds received from special agencies such as World Bank, TETFUND etc and money from internal sources including donations from corporate bodies. ”

The students went on to state that despite the funds and grants the used have received, the hostels and lecture rooms were in terrible conditions and that the power supply was epileptic and unstable.

It would be recalled that the student union of the foremost institution had last year protested against the vice chancellor and had also also called for probe of his administration.
