AY Makun’s ‘Call to Bar’ is our #QuarantineBinge of the day

AY, AY Makun

What do you get when you put AY Makun, The Real Warri Pikin and alcohol in one place? The new scripted comedy series, Call To Bar. Best known for his engaging live comedy specials, and his critically panned and commercially succesful block buster film projects, AY Makun successfully revolutionized the Nigerian film industry, proving over and over that slapstick physical comedy can be a recipe for success in any medium. His string of Nollywood successes, 30 Days in Atlanta, A trip to Jamaica and 10 Days in Sun City all grossed over 200 million Naira at the box office and gave him a lot of money to experiment with other mediums, which is what he is doing in his new direct to youtube scripted comedy series ‘Call to Bar’.

The plot is pretty straight forward, AY Makun and Warrpikin are two semi-literate mixologists working at a high class bar/lounge establishment that also hosts a comedy club. High profile patrons come to relax at the bar and come with their own neuroses and shenanigans ensue when they interact with  the show’s leads.

With just two episodes out, and a cast of A-list comedians and actors already teased in the trailers and WarriPikin in her first lead role, we can expect some no frills distraction from AY’s new project. Make sure your internet is at full mast and get to streaming.
