#BBATheChase: 8 housemates we loved this year

Another year, another Big Brother season, and how we’ve become addicted. The Chase like all other seasons presented viewers with a motley crew of housemates to care about, root for, hate, love or love to hate. There were loud guns, moody brats and swag queens. We present 10 of our favourite housemates this year. In no particular order.

Pokello

The self-acclaimed queen of swag was a hit from day one when her sex tape flooded the market shortly after The Chase started. She proved herself a vibrant one too by starting a love affair with Ghanaian Elikem despite having a man on the outside and alienating the other ladies in the process. Strong, independent and hard to miss, Pokello sure brought a lot of swag to The Chase.

Melvin

This hunky dude has had his fair share of reality shows so we were quite ticked to find him again on The Chase. His slow drawl initially ticked off all the wrong boxes and we were exasperated by his blatant disinterest in the ladies. However the tide has turned and Melvin is the man to beat. Yes he is Nigerian. Yes , he still has little love for the ladies but that won’t stand in his way come Sunday night. This one seems to have grown on us.

Beverly

Sister Beverly kind of made it easy for Nigerian audiences to trash talk her and gravitate towards Melvin in the process, what with her unladylike demeanour, care-free ways and propensity for scandal. She may pray up a storm when she is in a mood and read her Bible faithfully in the mornings but she has also been quick to jump into bed with South African boo Angelo. However, it is all of these same reasons that have kept her in the chase. Viewers aren’t quite sure what she will reveal next and her twerking skills keep us wishing the Saturday night parties last longer.

Dillish

The quiet voiced beauty managed to become Africa’s sweetheart and who can blame Africa? Big Brother Africa hasn’t quite seen a mate so lovely in some seasons. The anti-Beverly if you will, Dillish’s comportment and perceived decency has garnered her lots of fans and we suspect her name will still be called up long after The Chase is over.

Natasha

Mama Africa may have rubbed lots of people the wrong way with her brash, overbearing affect but we can all agree that the house was a more dramatic place while she was in. And what is Big Brother if not drama? Reality you may say but that is all neither here nor there at the moment.

Motama

Her hips don’t lie and neither do our affections for her. Vivacious, flirty and always the life of the party, we were sad when she made a premature exit but such is the nature of The Chase.

Bassey

The official best friend to the ladies, Bassey kept us entertained with his colourful disposition and those moves like Jagger. Chatty, zippy and fun, he was always up to something.

Sulu

Some called him a bushman, others found him incredibly hilarious. Whatever your thoughts, Sulu provided great entertainment and we loved him for it. Not enough to see him through to the final but we loved him all the same.
