Anambra State Governorship candidate, Senator Chris Nwabueze Ngige of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has carried out his threat to challenge the election of Willie Obiano as the new governor of the state.

A source reported that Ngige filed a suit yesterday, at the Anambra State Election Petiton Tribunal.

It was further disclosed that the suit was lodged by Ngige’s younger brother, Emeka Ngige, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

According to reports:

“The suit includes a motion exparte for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to allow him to inspect materials used for the governorship election,” the source said.

Ngige, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), came third in the election the result of which was announced on Sunday morning. He scored 95,953 votes as against 180,178 votes by Obiano and 97,700 votes by second-placed Comrade Tony Nwoye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Obiano extended a hand of fellowship to Ngige and other defeated candidates in his victory speech and while receiving the Certificate of Return from INEC yesterday in Awka, the state capital.
