State employees to get huge chunk of FCT budget

The presidency has said President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the 2016 Federal Capital Territory Appropriation Act.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang on Wednesday said this on Wednesday while speaking to journalists.

“The legal implantation of the budget therefore comes into effect, which will result in employment in the formal sectors and informal sectors through projects implementation and employment there from arising,” Enang said.

While presenting the Senate Committee on FCT report, Senator Dino Melaye said N52.9bn of the budgeted N241.5bn was for personnel cost, while N34.4bn and N154.1bn were for overhead and capital expenditure respectively.

He said the committee has projected an 85 per cent to 90 per cent budgetary performance for the FCT 2016 budget, an increase from that of 2015.
