Buhari to implement militants’ agreement with Yar’Adua

President Muhammadu Buhari is reportedly evaluating the gazette signed by late President Umaru Yar’Adua on the Niger Delta crisis.

Buhari is expected to peruse and lift from the gazette, a way of dealing with the growing menace of militant group, Niger Delta Avengers.

The main objective of revisiting the gazette, Punch reports, is to ascertain whether all the agreements contained in the document were implemented by the Federal Government.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, was said to have revealed this development on Saturday.

“Every effort is being made to restore calmness to the Niger Delta, including consultation, and taking a fresh look at the gazette signed by the Umaru Yar’Adua government, so that the agreements contained therein will be implemented.”
