President-elect, Mohammadu Buhari says his government would prosecute any security personnel found guilty of electoral offences in the last general elections.

According to Buhari, the crimes of ballot snatching and the prevention of the use of card readers by soldiers and other security personnel must be punished.

Buhari disclosed this on Thursday, April 30, while receiving members of the South East Caucus of the All Progressives Congress, who were at the Defence House in Abuja to congratulate him on his electoral victory.

The President-elect stated that he had already instructed the governors of Edo, Imo and Rivers states to document all offences alleged to have been perpetrated by the security personnel.

Buhari revealed that those who would be prosecuted includes the Nigerian Army, Police, Department of State Security Service, DSS and other paramilitary organisations.

Speaking further, he lauded the efforts of Governors Rochas Okorocha, Adams Oshomole and Chibuike Ameachi of Imo, Edo and Rivers States for preventing the security personnel from snatching ballot boxes and scuttling the use of card readers.
