Senate President, Bukola Saraki begs Emir to help intercede with Buhari

Bukola Saraki, has reportedly sought the help of emirs and traditional rulers, to placate President Muhammadu Buhari, over the manner in which he emerged Senate President.

Since the inauguration of the 8th Senate on June 9, President Buhari is said to have repeatedly shunned and avoided meeting with Saraki, who went against his party, All Progressives Congress, to contest the election.

Punch Newspapers reports that Saraki has begged the Emir of his home town, Ilorin, Kwara State, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, to intercede on his behalf.

An aide of the emir supposedly revealed that the senate president has requested some prominent traditional rulers in the state led by Sulu-Gambari, to help him straighten out the matter, with Buhari.

He said that Saraki, who was in Ilorin at the weekend, is now more worried over the fact that the leadership tussle in the House of Representatives had been resolved after the Speaker, Yakubu Dogora, made Femi Gbajabiamila Majority Leader, following the meetings held with Buhari and other APC stakeholders.

The aide also disclosed that Sulu-Gambari had prior to now, had interceded on behalf of Saraki concerning the senate presidency.

Before Saraki’s emergence as Senate President, the Emir of Ilorin had reportedly sent a team of emissaries to the National Leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu, so as to get him to relax his opposition against the emergence of Saraki as Senate President.
