Since celebrity photographer Busola Dakolo came forward with the revelation that she was allegedly raped by Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), her story has enabled a number of victims to speak about similar experiences. Now, in a new development, Dakolo’s legal representative has filed a petition against Fatoyinbo with the office of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Lagos on 27th June, 2019, prior to the release of the viral video where she recounted her ordeal.
Several days after revealing her rape ordeal in the hands of the embattled pastor, Busola’s story led to protests in Lagos and Abuja, forcing the church to postpone its annual 7-day programme, with the pastor temporarily stepping down from his position in the church.
Confirming the report, a source in the office of the AIG said, “Yes, she already came to the police to file a case with us before she even came to the public. The case is here with us in Lagos. Some of the Ogas here say the Biodun man has found out and is trying to move the case to Abuja, but that is not possible because the lady in question is resident here and she filed here. Investigation is ongoing, and I am telling you, what we are finding is bigger than what the mouth can say.”
Since last Friday, several women have come out to share their experiences, including an ex-COZA church member, who pleaded anonymity, giving a detailed recount of her experience during an interview. We will bring you updates as the case unfolds.
