CHAN: Super Eagles to meet Libya, Rwanda, Eq. Guinea, see other groups

Nigeria will meet 2014 champions Libya, Rwanda and Equatorial Guinea in the group stage at the 5th African Nations Championship taking place in Morocco, January 13 – February 4, 2018.

The matches of Group C will be played in Tangier.

The Draw Ceremony held at the Hotel Sofitel Rabat on Friday evening also housed hosts Morocco, Guinea, Sudan and Mauritania in Group A, in the event pitting the Atlas Lions against Mauritania in the opening match of the competition, at the Mohamed V Stadium in Casablanca on January 13.

 Hosts of the inaugural edition of the competition in 2009, Cote d’Ivoire head Group B that will be based in Marrakech, and have Zambia, Uganda and Namibia as group mates.

Group D, based in Agadir, has 2011 runners-up Angola, Cameroon, Congo and Burkina Faso.

Meanwhile, for beating Argentina in an international friendly in Russia last Tuesday, each member of the Super Eagles will get $2,000.

This much was disclosed to SportingLife by a top Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) executive member who was in Russia.

The players are entitled to a flat rate of $2,000 for being part of the squad for an international friendly ahead of the World Cup and they are all aware of it” a source disclosed.

It was gathered that the NFF is already considering options of organising more international friendly matches for the Eagles before the World Cup begins in Russia next year.
