‘Suicide bomber arrested in Cameroon not one of our girls’ – Chibok community

The suspected suicide bomber that was arrested last Friday in Cameroon is not from Chibok, in Borno state, says the Chairman of the community, Tsambido Abana.

The Chibok community Chairman premised his conclusion on the information made available to by the Federal Government.

The government had released a statement on Monday, through the Senior Special Assistant to the President, Garba Shehu, who said the girl was a minor, had never attended a conventional school and does not speak English, and as such – was not likely to be one of the abducted Chibok girls.

Abana revealed to Punch Newspapers on Tuesday that the suspected suicide bomber is believed to be from the Bama area of Borno State.

He further stated the girl’s picture was not released to him or his community members, noting that Aisha Oyebode of Murtala Mohammed Foundation was given the photo for verification.

He said it was clear that the girl was not from Chibok, based on the information released by the government.

“I won’t bother to go and see the picture, because from the information given by the government, it is apparent that the girl is not from Chibok.”

“Going to see the picture would create unnecessary tension and expectation among the Chibok parents whose daughters are missing.”
