The Nigerian Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA) has warned 11 states close to the bank of River Benue of the possible flood heading their way as the neighbouring country is scheduled to release the water in its Lagdo Dam.

The involved states are Adamawa, Anambra, Bayelsa, Benue, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Kogi, Nasarawa, Rivers, and Taraba.

“The release will be regulated to ensure that water levels do not exceed the capacity of the Benue River system, preventing major flooding in downstream areas of Nigeria,” NIHSA’s Director-General Umar Mohammed said in a statement.

The federal government has taken off its goal of inclusivity by providing people with disabilities (PWDs) varsity admissions.

The federal government has instructed universities, polytechnics and other varsity institutions throughout the country to admit students with disabilities who meet the minimum score for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The FG said that it was focused on admitting about 825,000 students with disabilities within the next five years, and by implementing this policy, Nigeria can genuinely provide equal access to education for every Nigerian, disabled or not.

CBN maintains a 5% loan cap to the government

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has revealed that it would be maintaining its 5% limit on Ways and Means advances to the FG for the 2024/2025 fiscal year.

The news goes against the latest amendment passed by the National Assembly to raise the lending limit from 5% to 10%. This is CBN’s move to reduce the number of long-term debts.

With this announcement, the federal government is expected to borrow up to 5% of the received revenue from the previous year.

NNPCL announces why marketers cannot purchase fuel from Dangote Refinery

Tinubu Requests that NNPCL Use its Federation Dividend Payment for Fuel Subsidy

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has cleared all doubts about why the local marketers are unable to receive petrol from Dangote Refinery in a new statement.

According to the NNPCL, local marketers are unable to purchase or lift oil from Dangote Refinery due to the product not being viable and expensive.

Dapo Segun, the Executive Vice President of the NNPCL Downstream Division, affirmed that no one was excluded from importing petrol. Still, local marketers never import fuel because the price is not profitable despite constantly requesting permission to import petrol.

Mass panic as tremors hit Bwari Area in Abuja

Residents of Mpape in the Bwari Area have been anxious and worried about what could possibly be a natural disaster occurrence, as there have been reports of tremors hitting the area.

The Chairman of the Mpape Hills Landlord Association, Ebenezer Adebisi, claimed that the residents of the area have been complaining of vibrations from the ground since September 12 and they have beckoned on the Nigerian government along with the Nigeria Geological Agency to come and analyse the cause.

Though Nigeria seldom experiences earthquakes, there have been accounts of tremors happening in Nigeria from 1933 to 2016.
