Cholera outbreak claims 54 lives in Bauchi

Bauchi State Commissioner for Health, Sani Malami, on Thursday said cholera outbreak recorded across the state in the last two months, had resulted in the death of no fewer than 54 persons.

Dr. Malami told newsmen that the  victims died at home because they were not taken to the hospital for medical attention. Read more….

Oshiomhole explains why ward congresses in Edo South was cancelled

Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole on Thursday explained that the ward congress of the All Progressives Congress in Edo South senatorial district was cancelled because the party wants to lay a solid foundation for democracy at the grassroots.

3 feared killed as rain wreaks havoc in Ilorin

No fewer than three people were feared dead in a downpour that destroyed property worth millions of naira and rendered hundreds of people homeless in Ilorin overnight.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that two brothers identified as Basil and Gafal, aged four and three and half respectively, lost their lives while an Abuja-bound bus driver also died in the flood. Read more.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described as an orchestrated distraction and a mindless public relations gimmick the ongoing hullabaloo about the rebasing of Nigeria’s GDP which the masterminds said has seen the country emerge as the largest economy in Africa.

In a statement issued in Washington, DC, US, on Thursday by its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said coming after the damning World Bank report which declared Nigeria as one of the countries harbouring the largest population of poor people in the world, there is no doubt that the rebasing noise is the government’s response to the classification. Protesting youths seal off Edo NDDC office

Staffers of the Niger Delta Development Commission in Edo State were Thursday locked inside their offices for several hours by protesting youths from 14 communities in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State.
