Church Crawler: The marriage sermon at RCCG Jesus Sanctuary

RCCG Jesus Sanctuary Church Culture

After Church Crawler visited a church last week Sunday that ended up in so many chills, Church Crawler was left limited options for this week. It was either good or best. Nothing more, nothing less. And it wasn’t so hard to make that decision at all. RCCG Jesus Sanctuary Masha had been a church I had admired for some time, so, Voila, we landed at Jesus House Sanctuary, Masha Surulere.

RCCG Jesus Sanctuary Masha is one of the churches under the umbrella body of the popularly known Redeemed Christian Church of God but, was built as a model parish to cater for youth, young professionals and people whose needs might be quite different from the average adult. Hence, the church is not the regular Redeemed Church even though the normal RCCG tradition is still held in high esteem.

From the praise and worship which was so lit as the choristers rocked to popular hits from Hillsong, Bethel and our popular Nigerian artistes too. The choir ministration was not any different too.

The message was the unique highlight for the Sunday. The church had begun a series from the beginning of October on “Will You Marry Me?” and the topic for Sunday was: When Love is tested. Using 2 Samuel 6:20 as the text, the pastor pointed out the various phases couples go through that would test their love. Come to think of it, it would seem that all the churches are in such a romantic season? But that’s a topic for another day.

Some of these phases pointed out during the sermon includes communication breakdown, the love of money, amongst others. The preacher, Pastor Adeola Mensah further advised couples to learn to communicate effectively about everything most especially their feelings and needs. Aside from the warmth and joy felt just being in a church setting, the AC was freezing and the interior decor was extremely beautiful coupled with all the lovey-dovey feeling from the message. I left the church feeling really single to stupor but God is on the throne abi?

Till I attend that church and Church Crawler crawls into your church, better be prepared, “for the hour cometh…
