In the late hours of Sunday, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state, announced through his official Twitter handle that he tested negative for Coronavirus twice after he first tested positive 7 days ago.
He tweeted: “I am deeply moved by your prayers and support throughout this period. I am so thankful. This evening, I received my second negative test result for COVID-19. I especially thank Prof Temitope Alonge, who acted in my stead as Head of the Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force. I am also grateful to all members of the Task Force for their cooperation during this time. I will be resuming my responsibility as Head of the Task Force from tomorrow (that is today).” Nigerians have since then taken to the app, congratulating him for the clean bill of health status using “Congratulations sir”.

For Twitter user @CharleneEjike he is particularly excited that Governor Makinde is the first politician who is wished well in the whole COVID-19 episode where Nigerians have wished death for some of the leaders.
Congratulations Sir Seyi Makinde! You are actually the first politician I am seeing whom is wished well ? Thank God your results where Negative! #CoronaVirusNigeria #staysafe https://t.co/NkRJ5clmiV

It is hardly arguable that Seyi Makinde’s administration is one of the most-loved in Nigeria, as since the beginning of his administration, he has successfully won the hearts of Nigerians especially because of his effort towards education and the welfare of young people. Since the wake of the coronavirus, he has also made considerable efforts to make life easier for people.
After shutting down the civil service for two weeks, he also created an alternative structure for learning at home for all students, particularly SS3 students who are at the verge of sitting for the WAEC and NECO.
However, since then other Twitter users have used it to refer to other unpleasant things. @Oludaray said, “As we say congratulations sir to Gov. Seyi Makinde for coming back stronger, we say congratulations Sir to Marlians’ President, Naira Marley for being guilty once again. As a Marlian, be ready to fight for your president”
This statement was an allusion to the fact that Naira Marley got into some police trouble over the weekend for attending Funke Akindele’s husband, JJ Skillz‘ birthday party despite the directive to self-isolate this period.
