When 4-year-old Madeline McCann went missing while on holiday with her family in Praia da Luz, Portugal in May 2007, it sent shockwaves throughout the United Kingdom and Portugal. The toddler vanished without a trace and while investigations continued for more than a year, with many leads and sightings, all have turned out to be dead ends.
A former Scotland Yard detective, Ian Horrocks visited the resort where the little girl was kidnapped, pored over police and media reports, searching for clues, and he believes there is a good possibility the girl might be alive.
Pulling on his vast experience of investigating murder, sex and kidnap crimes, he absolved her parents of any wrongdoing whatsoever when it came to the entire affair and also ruled out murder, or kidnapping by a paedophile ring, saying, “The thought that Kate and Gerry McCann had anything to do with the death of their daughter, whether being directly responsible or covering it up, is frankly preposterous.
“There is not one shred of credible evidence, either direct or otherwise, to indicate that this is even a remote possibility.”
Scotland Yard recently came out to say that they believed that it was possible that the little girl was still alive.
