The suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has scored a victory in his case against the Federal Government.
A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos today granted the former governor’s requests and made an order restraining the Nigeria Police and the Department of State Services from arresting or otherwise harassing him.
The court also awarded Sanusi N50 million in exemplary damages and ordered the DSS to release his passport immediately.
The embattled former governor’s travails began as soon as he was suspended by President Goodluck Jonathan on February 20 after which his passport was seized.
Sanusi brought the suit in a bid to challenge the constitutionality of any attempts to arrest him made by the government’s security agencies.
