Danai Gurira is in talks to star in “Godzilla vs King Kong” and “Star Trek 4” and this is officially too good

Danai Gurira

Although Danai Gurira has been slaying zombies in AMC’s post-apocalyptic zombie saga The Walking Dead, Marvel’s Black Panther was the movie that gave her enough cultural thrust to be noticed, and introduced to new fans.

Unlike her co-star Lupita Nyong’o whose name was linked to subsequent multiple projects, Gurira suffered a little dull spell. But now my wig has been snatched, as the Zimbabwean-American actress is in talks to star in Godzilla vs King Kong, alongside Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown and Julian Dennison.

Even more, she’s in talks to star in the upcoming Star Trek film from Paramount with S.J. Clarkson, who will be the first woman to helm a film in the Star Trek series. I’m particularly excited about Gurira’s prospective feature in Godzilla vs King Kong, which will stand out as a fresh update on the classic 1962 version.

The first original Godzilla was released in 1954, and the original King Kong in 1933. The prospect of a Godzilla vs Kong crossover has made fan restless for a long time, especially with the CGI’ed offerings of Kong: Skull Island (2017) and 2013’s Godzilla, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

Reportedly, Godzilla vs Kong will start filming in late 2018, and scheduled for a 2020 release.
