There were rumours in December that D’banj was getting married to an unknown girl.

A date- December 12- was even given but nothing of that sort seemed to have materialized.

Prior to this, D’banj had revealed to the Netng in January 2015 that he was going to get married that year as he had always wanted a kid and the arrival of his brother’s newborn in 2014 intensified his desire to get one.

He was quoted as saying, ‘Well, I don’t know yet but I know that I am intending to do it this year. More importantly for me, I’ve always wanted to have a child, but last year my brother, Kay Switch had a child and it brought so much joy to me. So this year, I’m thinking of settling down to have my own Koko junior soon.’

Following the rumours about the marriage ceremony being fixed within the same year, YNaija had a brief chat with D’banj on December 16, to clarify the reports.

Although he neither confirmed nor denied the story, he maintained he was getting married very soon.

In his exact words, ”I’m going to marry very soon and you will get to meet her”

D’banj who has been romantically linked with South African beauty, Bonang Matheba and Nigerian bombshell, Adama Ndimi then somewhat hinted at the lucky girl not being any of these reported one-time flames of his.

“I don’t know these people you are mentioning o,” He said

YNaija also met up with the Kokomaster in April again and he told us he was not married and even when he eventually does, it would be a low-profile ceremony.

“If I marry, you would not hear about it. My wife is not looking for fame. The fame I have is already enough,” He said.

In the same interview, he might have spilled the beans as a bid to attack people who are so concerned about him getting married.

He said, “Who knows if i have not even gotten married sef.”

Then on Sunday July 3, 2016, popular blogger, Stella Dimokokurkus claimed D’banj had gotten hooked to a certain Didi Kilgrow the previous day at a secret registry wedding disguised as a birthday celebration for D’banj’s father.

Didi is said to be a 25-year-old student of UNIABUJA who grew up in Jos and is a step-sister to Samantha Walsh – the current co-host of MTV Base’s The Bigger Friday Show alongside Falz.

According to Stella, the couple became an item in early 2015 after which D’banj proposed to her in April, 2016. The blogger then said a traditional wedding ceremony was held the same year in June.

On Saturday, D’banj posted a picture on Instagram of him and Kayswitch posing with their mum and dad at the latter’s ‘birthday party’.

The picture has now become a hot topic as people spotted a ring which D’banj had on and started to speculate that it was indeed true that he got married.

Meanwhile on that same day, in the morning D’banj had been to Sao Cafe, Lekki to celebrate with DJ Obi who was on his world record breaking quest.

This heightened the on-going conversation on social media as to if the rumours, of a D’banj wedding taking place, were true or false.

With this premise of what has happened from January of 2015 till date in D’banj’s dating life, we will like to give you 5 reasons why we think D’banj did really marry this time.

1. D’banj’s relationship status has always been under scrutiny. Fans, media and critics alike are always interested in knowing who the Kokomaster is romantically involved with at every point in time. From what we have stated above, D’banj has maintained how he hates this.

So it is expected that D’banj would settle for a low-key wedding as he will be willing to protect his ‘new bride’ from all of the scrutiny particularly as she is still chasing her dreams at the university.

The spotlight could be a distraction and it could also mar their relationship. It’s no secret on how the pressures of the spotlight, especially pressure from the media, could have a hand in the straining of celebrity relationships.

2. It makes complete sense that D’banj has opted for a non-celebrity or non-socialite as a wife. Nadia Buari, Genevive Nnaji, Bonang Matheba (who he was still dating as at July 2015), Adama Ndimi and Jennifer Obayuwana – his rumoured relationship with these ladies hardly went well. So why not go for someone who is not in the public glare?

3. Going by Stella’s report, we would say D’banj is capable to have orchestrated a secret wedding.

Firstly, he could have indeed used his father’s birthday as a cover-up and visited DJ Obi in order to create an alibi.

Secondly, in a bid to create this make-believe birthday celebration, D’banj and Kayswicth took a picture with their mum and their dad, the supposed celebrant.

In the picture, Dbanj is looking more like someone who is attending a dinner or a wedding of some sort. Although he didn’t wear a blazer at the time the picture was taken but he’s spotted wearing a dinner shirt and a bow tie in daylight.

That is questionable especially as D’banj has been wearing more of the traditional agbada to events lately and for such family event, he definitely would have worn something close to that. You can’t just go from Agbada to a dinner look that quick.

His brother Kayswitch’s look even makes the picture appear more questionable as he wears a white shirt and trouser but from his rumpled look especially looking at his collar you could assume he just removed a tie of some sort.

4. During the YNaija interview in April 2016, D’banj said, “If I marry, you would not hear about it. My wife is not looking for fame. The fame I have is already enough,” He said.

If we are to take a grammatical look at the statement above, we would see how Dbanj subconsciously speaks in the present tense saying, “My wife is not looking for fame. The fame I have is already enough”.

It won’t be bad if we are to say he spilled about the reported proposal with Didi, given that it also happened in April according to Stella Dimokokorkus.

5. It is strange that a story of this magnitude and importance has not been addressed by D’banj or his team.  Also the lady in question, Didi has not come out to squash it.

Neither of these parties can feign ignorance of the story. Well let’s not jump into conclusion yet maybe they are still putting together a proper press statement.
