Former Bayelsa state Governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha is dead, a report by Leadership affirms.
Alamieyeseigha reportedly died at a private hospital in Port Harcourt, Rivers
The former governor had reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest earlier in the week.
Channels Television reports that the Bayelsa State Commissioner for Information, Esueme Dan-Kikili, confirmed that Alamieyeseigha died of cardiac arrest on Saturday.
He slipped into a coma two days ago and had been placed on life support since then.
Alamieyeseigha, who recently returned from Dubai, is wanted in the United Kingdom for charges of corruption and money laundering.
The government of the United Kingdom had recently requested for his extradition to answer to the charges.
