Driver in trouble after man he fought dies mysteriously

A driver in Benue has been arrested and charged after a man he was arguing with slumped and died.

40-year-old  Samuel Egurube is accused of causing the death of one  Joseph Ogumba after he engaged him in a spat over tyres.

The incident is said to have occurred at Igumale in the Ado Local Government Area of the state.

Daily Trust reports:

The court heard on Tuesday that Samuel submitted himself to the police on January 25 after he fought the deceased who died in the fight.

He told the police that during the fight over a motor tyre, the deceased slumped and died, after which he was arrested in connection with the incident in accordance with Section 222 of the penal code laws of Benue State, 2004.

At the mention of the case, Samuel did not take a plea for want of jurisdiction, just as the prosecution said investigation into the matter was in progress.

Chief Magistrate Cecilia Bakare adjourned the case to March 18.
