DSS wades into rift between Fulani herdsmen and Afenifere

As a result of the ongoing rift between Fulani herdsmen and the leadership of Afenifere, the Department of State Services (DSS), has organised a dispute-settling meeting between both groups.

The meeting set up by the DSS, was between Afenifere and Miyetti Allah Cattle Rearers Association over the lingering animosity between two groups in the South-West.

The Director of DSS in Osun State, Andrew Iorkay, organised the peace meeting to douse the tension, which became increased when Fulani herdsmen abducted former Minister of Finance, Olu Falae.

Former Attorney General of Osun State, Niyi Owolade, represented the Afenifere while the Miyetti Allah team was led by its chairman, Salihu Ismael; Secretary, Aliyu Kamilu and Sarkin Hausawa, A. Ahmadu.

Iorkayadvised the two groups to try and coexist peacefully, while imploring their members to shun acts that would threaten the peace and security of the state.

During the meeting, the Miyetti Allah team reportedly condemned the abduction of Falae and assured that their members would not do anything that will affect the peace and stability of the state.

The Afenifere representative, Owolade, said he was pleased with the peace treaty but warned that Fulani herdsmen must stop destroying and encroaching on farmlands.
