EFCC arraigns 3 unionists over N6m fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arranged three unionists; Nasiru Illelah, Muhammad Gana and Adamu Yunus for allegedly issuing dud cheques.

The three men were the Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer respectively of the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Services Technical and Recreation Services Employees, Hospital Management Board.

They were alleged to have collected 600 bags of rice valued at N6 million in January 2016 with a promise to pay in a period of two months.

It was gathered that they issued two checks to the complainant which was returned due to insufficient balance.

The trio who were arraigned before Justice Rabi Umar of the Bauchi State High Court, Bauchi pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Justice Rabi adjourned the case to November 9, 2016 for hearing on bail applications and ordered the accused to be remanded in prison custody.
