EFCC’s probe of ONSA shifts from politicians to ‘individuals and firms’

The investigation of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission into the financial activities of office of the National Security Adviser has shifted from politicians to individuals and firms.

Punch Newspapers reports that the EFCC will from next week, start inviting the individuals and firms that were indicted over a fresh contract scam.

As from Tuesday, after the Easter break, the anti-graft agency would start sending invitations to those implicated, urging them to appear before the commission beginning from April 4.

The report stated that the first batch of invitees would consist of 20 firms -including Julius Berger Plc-, a former Accountant General of the Federation, Jonah Otunla, and Brigadier General A.S Mormoni-Bashir.

A recent statement released by the Senior Special Assistant to the President, Garba Shehu said the former AGF and Brigadier General allegedly received payments without contractual agreements.

Julius Berger, on the other hand, appeared on the list of companies that failed to execute/partially executed contracts.

A source in the EFCC, was quoted to have said: “As soon as we resume on Tuesday, we will start processing invitations that will be sent to at least 20 individuals and firms. They will start coming to the commission as from April 4.”
