EFCC urges court to dismiss Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia’s bail application

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Friday urged a Federal High Court in Lagos to dismiss an application filed by Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia seeking release from the agency’s custody.

The anti-graft agency had arrested her while investigating about $793,800 allegedly discovered in her domiciliary account.

Counsel to the EFCC, Abdullahi Idris, said the accused will tamper with evidence if released on bail.

“The applicant (Ofili-Ajumogobia) was inducing and interfering with our investigation since after she was released on bail, which formed the basis of the revocation of the bail earlier granted her,” Idris said.

Idris added that the EFCC has filed a criminal charge against the judge before Justice T. Oshodi of the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja.

However, the judge’s lawyer, Moyosore Onigbanjo said the EFCC was violating her rights.

He added that even the remand order obtained by the EFCC to detain her had since elapsed.
